Emma enjoys all the different periods of the vast repertoire of period music, in solo, chamber and orchestral formats, and loves the variety this gives her musical life.
She has been playing principal viola for Simon Standage's CM90 ensemble for the last years, with whom she has toured and recorded. She was principal viola of La Nuova Maniera in 2007-2012, and has been guest principal for many groups including: Academy of Ancient Music, Gabrieli Consort, the Sixteen, Armonico Tributo, and Opera Cork 2000.
Emma also plays the viola d'amore, which she studied in Holland, these days regularly playing the obligato duo (either part) for St John's Passion, most recently as a soloist for Manchester Camerata.
Renaissance: Emma has performed and recorded renaissance repertoire with:
Braccio, I Fagiolini, His Majesties Sacbutts and Cornetts, Gabrieli Consort,New London Consort (including her first Prom in 1997) and Braccio! a violin band based in Holland.
Baroque: playing baroque viola is the standard repertoire of period instrument orchestras, and Emma has worked with most of the top Early Music groups in Britain and is a regular member of the Academy of Ancient Music, Gabrieli Consort and Players, CM90 and the Early Opera Company amongst others.
Classical, Romantic and Modern: Emma has been fortunate to play not only the classical greats of Haydn Mozart and Beethoven, but later repertoire with period groups, including that of Beethoven, Brahms, Mendelssohn and Britten.
She is a founder member of the Constanze Quartet, which specialises in period performance of repertoire for the string quartet, spanning from the 17th to 20th century.
She has performed in some of the most prestigous music venues in the world: including the Wigmore Hall, London; Carnegie Hall, New York; the Albert Hall; the Musikverein, Vienna;the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam; the Theatre de Champs Elysees, Paris; La Scala, Milan; Leipzig Gewanthaus; Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles. She has been fortunate to have travelled worldwide, from the Middle Eastern spice markets of Damascus, Roman amplitheatres of Jordan, and Yasser Arafat's hotel complex in Gaza to concert halls in the Far East: Beijing, Tokyo, Osaka. From Atlanta, Georgia USA, to Vancouver Canada, as well as most countries in her home continent of Europe.
Emma is a regular member of AAM, the Gabrieli Consort, Arcangelo, CM90, and the Early Opera Company. Other groups she has worked with include: Arcangelo, English Baroque Soloists, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, English Concert, the Sixteen, Hanover Band. Classical Opera Company.
Further afield she has worked with Concerto Copenhagen, Les Talens Lyriques, Le Cercle de l'Harmonie, De Nederlandse Bachvereniging, Utrechts Barok Consort, and was a member of Musica Antiqua Koln. Stateside she has played with the Aradia Ensemble, New York Baroque, and Texas Baroque. She has also done session work, including recording with Joy Formidable on their Wolf's Law album.
